Kangaroo Point is one of the most densely populated areas in the city - but has been starved of good public transport. This adversely impacts employees, students, seniors, DVA pensioners, the less abled, families with kids, and people from all walks of life.
Route 27 runs from Kangaroo Point to the Riverside Centre. It ends in April when Dockside ferry stop reopens. However, the Kittycat ferries are smaller, take fewer people, have a lot fewer seats, carry many tourists, have poor ventilation and are not air conditioned. Frequently, people are unable to get onboard.
The 27 Bus route is reliable and very well used by Kangaroo Point residents. People use it to get to work, business meetings, medical appointments, shopping, and to visit family and friends.
We strongly advocate this service be made permanent.
We ask the State Minister for Transport, Bart Mellish, and the BCC Transport Committee Chair, Cr Ryan Murphy, to work to keep this important service for Kangaroo Point.
